Thrift Style Thursday: Athletic Aesthetic

Welcome to my second edition of Thrift Style Thursday! This week's theme was Athletic Aesthetic!  I honestly was stumped at first at what I was going to do for this.  Then I came across this cute baseball tee at one of the thrift stores while I was searching for pastels last week.  I decided to do a loosely themed baseball outfit.  (And please excuse my very pink cheeks... I was trying out a new blush color and it turned out much darker than I expected in the pics, hehe!)

My hubby was giving me a hard time about wearing jewelry for an athletic look.  My response: I still have to dress it up since I'm not actually playing. :)  By the way, I borrowed the bat from my brother-in-law, who tried out for our local minor league baseball team this past weekend!  He should find out soon whether he made it ~ fingers crossed he did.  That would be so exciting for him and it would be fun to go watch him play!

Please be sure to check out all the other lovely ladies and their athletic looks!

Pink + Orange

Happy Wednesday!  Are you guys on Instagram?  I'm a visual person and I love that it is all about pictures.  It's been a great site to network and build relationships with other bloggers and promote my blog.  I didn't realize it was also a great place for giveaways!  I've been entering many, and I finally won one!  I won 2 gorgeous necklaces, a bracelet and earrings from Shop Lately, a cute shop that has a mishmash of just about everything, especially amazing jewelry at reasonable prices.  You should check out their website, but don't blame me if you buy more jewelry than you need. ;)  I'm wearing the earrings and one of the necklaces that I won.

The earrings and necklace have a mix of pink and orange ~ a fun color combination that I added more of with my purse and shoes.

The sleeves and back of this top have little gold metal dots that give the appearance of polka dots.  It's like business in the front and party in the back, haha.

The Trench Coat

It's supposed to be Spring but the weather here decided to give us another cold front.  I guess I can't complain too much though because I enjoy any excuse to keep out my cute jackets for a little bit longer.  We only get to wear them a limited time here in Texas.  I recently got this trench coat at Banana and it might be my new favorite jacket.  Luckily they had it in petite so it is the perfect length for me.  The inside has a shock of red, which I love, even though it's not noticeable when I'm wearing it.

Thrift Style Thursday: Perfect Pastels

I'm excited to announce that I have been asked to joined Thrift Style Thursday, which is a weekly feature where I'll showcase an item found secondhand, based on that week's theme (chosen by the participating bloggers).  As I mentioned in an earlier post, you can find great fashion pieces anywhere, including second hand stores.  They are typically in good shape and an added bonus is that they much cheaper than what you would pay for something similar that's new!

In participating in Thrift Style Thursday, I am joining an awesome group of ladies that have very cool blogs.  I have listed links to their blogs at the end of the post.  Please be sure to give them a look and see how they interpreted this week's theme of perfect pastels. :)

So, let's talk about thrifting.  Honestly, I don't know why I haven't done it sooner.  I had always thought about it but never went.  Then I came across Justine's cute blog over at The Two Cent Chick and got inspired by a couple of her awesome Thrift Style Thursday posts and decided to go.  A friend and I went and we found some good stuff at unbelievable prices.  I mentioned it to Justine and she invited me to join her and the rest of the girls that participate in Thrift Style Thursday each week!  This will be a fun weekly challenge as you never know what you'll find when you go thrifting! :)

This week's theme was perfect pastels, which was, well, perfect since today is the first day of Spring!  Little did I realize that most pastels (at least at the first 2 places that I went to) would be limited to old-fashioned grandma style tops, haha.  I wasn't sure what I was going to do, but then I came across 2 great finds at the third store I tried.  I decided to get both and see how they worked when I styled them.  I ended up loving both, so I decided to show you both!

Outfit 1: My thrifted item is the pastel pink polka dot dress.  I found this on the 50% off rack and scored it for only $8!

Outfit 2: My other thrifted item is the pink blazer (I'm sensing a theme here, ha!).  I decided to go all out and pair a bunch of pastel items together for this outfit!

The bows on the pockets were a cute detail and what ultimately that sold me on this.  Also, the brand, Nanette Lepore, sounded familiar, so I googled it and found that most of her blazers sell for around $400.  I was sold ~ what a steal at $25!

Please be sure to check out how all the other lovely ladies styled their perfect pastel finds!

What To Do When You Have Nothing To Wear ~ Part II

This is Part II of What To Do When You Have Nothing To Wear.  Click here to read Part I.

As promised in Part I, I am going to show a couple of outfit examples that I put together using inspiration from Pinterest.

The first is a literal interpretation of the outfit.  Here is my inspiration and my version.  The pics are a little dark, but you can see that I'm pretty much wearing the same thing.  There is nothing wrong with exactly copying an outfit you see.  It is a good way to see for yourself how everything looks together. :)

The second example is a very loose interpretation of my inspiration photo.  I really liked the pairing of pink with navy, but I don't have a skirt that color.  I do have a top that is very similar in color though!  So I put together an outfit using that shirt and a navy cardigan.
